Ahead of the forthcoming Wards and Local Governments Congresses of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the former Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Christopher Ekpenyong, has canvassed for hitch-free polls.

The exercise holds this weekend in the 329 Wards spread across the 31 Local Government Areas of the State.

And Ekpenyong, founding member of the PDP since 1998, who doubles as the political leader of Obot Akara Local Government Area, urged PDP stakeholders to close rank and work collectively for the interest of the party at the polls.

Speaking at a forum of stakeholders and chieftains of the PDP at the Local Government Headquarters at Nto Edino, Ekpenyong enjoined members and supporters to be part of the rebuilding process of the party.

As the Congresses hold this weekend, Ekpenyong sued for all lingering political disputes to be buried through dialogue at regular meetings of the forum.

He commended the people for the confidence reposed in him as the leader of the Local Government and solicited supports for the industrialization policy of Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, to thrive.

According to him, the industrialization policy, when fully operational would engender jobs and wealth creation for the people, assuring that the forum under him, would work in tandem with the State government for development to thrive in Obot Akara.

Besides, Ekpenyong underscored the importance of the youths as political leaders of the future and stressed the need for them to be trained and properly orientated for the big task ahead.

“The forum will chart a new course for the rapid development of Obot Akara. Therefore, people should be united and be prepared to fully participate in Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration because no industry will come to Obot Akara if we are not together”, he stressed.
