The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Aniekan Umanah has challenged Federal Government appointees from the State to bring to the notice of President Muhammadu Buhari the deplorable state of federal infrastructure especially roads in the state rather than trade on blackmail and falsehood.
Reacting to an earlier interview granted by Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly matters (Senate), Senator Ita Solomon Enang, the commissioner, while speaking on Planet 101.1, described the senator’s allegation as baseless, unimaginable and unfounded, wondering why a Presidential Aide should chose the path of falsehood and blackmail.
According to him, “politics is over, the last rerun in five state constituencies shows the supremacy of the PDP in the state, now is time for the development and all should join hands, irrespective of political affiliation, to bring development to the state.
“It is disappointing that Senator Ita Enang has not mentioned to the Mr. President the deplorable state of federal roads in Akwa Ibom, he has not told the president that it is now impossible to come in from Abia State into Akwa Ibom using Aba-Ikot Ekpene Road or Ikot Ekpene-Oko Ita- Calabar Road. We expect them to tell the president the need to expedite action on Ibaka Seaport and other jetties.
“These are the things we expect Senator Ita Enang to tell the President so that in the long run Akwa Ibom people will benefit from his appointment as a Presidential Aide, otherwise he should not forget to be humbled if his palm kernel has been cracked for him by a benevolence spirit”
On the allegation by Senator Ita Enang that civil servants in the state are being owed, Mr Umanah maintained that “no civil servant is owed in Akwa Ibom State as I speak with you now, once money comes in, salaries of workers are paid before any other thing is considered. His Excellency considers payment of salary as a first line charge of his administration”.
The Commissioner who promised to give the Presidential Aide a copy of Dakkada Creed which emphasizes the rise above biases, ethnicity and gender, to the faith of greatness, advised him to desist from falsehood, blackmail but rather seek clarification from the governor who is always ready to listen to any good idea that will be in the best interest of the people.
“He has the governor’s line and if there is anything he needs clarification, he can call the governor so that when he speaks he will be speaking from the position of authority except he wants us to believe that government at the centre is run on lies. He should say things in a way that will reflect the office he is occupying by being factual and clear”.
On the development recorded in the state in the last nine months, Mr. Umanah said it is as a result of a clear cut vision of the governor for the State, pointing out that, what the people are witnessing in the State today is a clear example of preparedness meeting opportunity.
“The governor is looking forward to an economically viable Akwa Ibom State by the time he leaves office in 2023. He has an understanding of the financial engineering that brings about growth and development” he added.
He called on all Akwa Ibom people to continue to support the administration of governor Udom Emmanuel and shun antics of detractors.
