Victory Thanksgiving: Udom Calls For Respect For The Judicial System

Akwa Ibom state Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has warned those lampooning and impugning the integrity of the country’s judiciary to seize and desist from walking such slippery slope, reasoning that certain institution of governance should be off limits in any naked desire for power.

The Governor gave the warning yesterday during the thanksgiving service organized by the state Governor to celebrate God for the victory at the Supreme Court said that demonizing such institutions can be counter-production to the nation’s growth.

“We should not selectively applaud the judiciary when we receive favorable ruling and then cast aspersion on the same institution when we don’t get our desired result”. The Governor warned.

Dedicating his victory at the Supreme Court to God, Udom stated; “If anybody tells you he did it; it is a lie. I have never in my life seen such desperation as it was in 2015. I will continue in thanksgiving because it was the God of justice who wrote us on when we were written off by the opposition but can one write off a divine mandate?” he asked.

The Governor expressed his readiness to save the state better as well as create the right environment for the Dakkada spirit to thrive.

“Now that those distractions are over, I promise you that our central plank of development which rest on industrialization will be pursued with an even deeper vigor, we will not rest until we are able to create opportunities for employment for our teeming youths; we will not rest until our youths are equipped with the right skills-set for jobs of the Twenty First Century, we will not rest until our women  are provided the tools to expand their trade and be able to support their husbands as they build  homes full of well-rounded and productive children, we will not rest until every child is educated and made ready to fulfill his or her God given potentials; we want to create a state that would be a model of development, a city state and with your  support and prayers, we will get there”

In his goodwill message at the event, the acting national chairman of PDP, Mr. Uche Secondus expressed optimism that PDP will bounce back saying that Nigeria is in dare need of PDP Government for the real change “Eight months ago, Dollar was N150 to $1 but today, it is N300 to $1. I challenge the APC led Government in Nigeria that Nigeria needs more people than guns. PDP will come back to take the country to its destination”

Lending his voice with the acting, chairman of the party, the Ekiti state Governor, Ayodele Fayose, who spoke on behalf of his counterpart at the event, said PDP will take back its place in the country in a matter of time and described PDP’s victory as the victory of light over darkness.

In his homily, the General overseer of the Liver Faith Church and the guest speaker at the occasion Dr. David Oyedepo saw the event as the celebration of the supreme hand of the Supreme God in the affairs of men.

He reasoned that until thanks giving are offered onto God for the past, one is not qualified for the next level. “Thanks giving cannot be assumed but must be practically offered in spirit and in truth; we owe thanks for every blessing, ingratitude is expression of pride” the cleric maintained.

Oyedepo, who is among the ten top men of God the world over, prophesied multiplication of blessings, God’s goodness and promotion to Akwa Ibom state adding that multiplication answers to thanksgiving.

Appreciate the state Government for deeming it necessary to organize the thanksgiving service.

The occasion was attended by who is who in PDP in the country, clergies, governors of the South-South states of the country as well as past Governors of the state.
